It is my belief that students need:
- to have hands-on experiences in order to learn and grow,
- to work collaboratively with others and learn from others' perspectives
- to be in a classroom that is warm, welcoming, and allows for growth and mistakes without judgment,
- opportunities to learn in multiple varieties of ways (projects, speeches, drawing, etc),
- encouragement that they are learning and may not have mastered a concept, "yet", but they will.
It is also my belief that:
- communication between parents, staff, students, and the community is key,
- relationships between the teacher and student set the foundation to a successful classroom,
- students are capable of being self-aware and are capable of self-control,
- differentiating instruction is vital for all students to feel successful,
- it is my job to support students academically and challenge them while supporting them emotionally as well,
- students learn best from feedback and support rather than finite grades.
